Welcome to the latest uploads to our website.
Following on from the visit from representatives of the Japanese Badminton Association we are pleased to report that we have been contacted by the French Badminton Federation. They were keen to display some items from our records at their International Championships which were played at the end of October. Naturally we were delighted to oblige. In return they have sent us some interesting reports on Major McCallum and the Strollers. WE are pleased to see this international interest in our efforts in preserving the heritage of Irish Badminton.
The Historical Item is an obituary on Mavis Macnaughton nee Hamilton. It is sad to read that she died at such a young age. As stated she played 20 times for Ireland. As the war interrupted competition when she was 28 she would undoubtedly have won many more honours. The Hamilton family has a remarkably varied impact on Irish Sport.
The Gallery Item shows the 1987 Irish Under 16 team that competed in the Schools Quadrangular competition of that year. It would be interesting to know what current contact with Badminton these players have. I know that Niall Gannon is still very active but have no knowledge on the other players as competitors or administrators.
We are always pleased to receive ideas and constructive criticism through the website.
