Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

Welcome to the latest uploads to our website.

In the Historical Section we have shown a timeline for Dundrum Badminton Club. This is currently a work in progress and more items will be shown in due course. The match against Wicklow in 1899 is particularly noteworthy. It appears some disagreement arose between the clubs around the format of the match and from this it was suggested that a National Body be formed and thus the Irish Badminton Union (now Badminton Ireland) was formed.

The Gallery Item displays an image of the Irish Junior (Under 21) team of 1955. These Juniors International matches were a valuable experience for developing players. All of the players shown here subsequently represented Ireland at Senior level. Tom Boyle was non-playing captain. He was the winner of an All-England title for Men’s Doubles partnered by Jim Rankin.

Good progress is being made on an official opening of the Museum
