Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

We were very interested to hear that a Badminton Museum has now been established in New Zealand. This project has been led by three former New Zealand International players, Jeff Robson, Heather Robson and Richard Purser. We would like to congratulate them on this venture and we will be soon following them with our own opening.

Appropriately our historical item is a Press Report from 1954 headed “Wizards of the court from New Zealand. It reports on an unofficial International match played in C.Y.M.S. Carlow. It is interesting to note that Carlow Club was asked to promote this event by the organising Committee of the Midland Branch New Hall Fund. It seems to have been a most enjoyable occasion and well organised by Club. Richard Purser also played in Ireland

The Gallery item displays a Press Photograph of the Irish Under 21 team that defeated Scotland in a match that was played in Dundalk. Cyril Adamson, the non-playing captain of the team was the father of Irish International player Maurice Adamson.

We are interested in receiving memorabilia of all aspects of the game and items will be accepted on loan or as a donation. Contact can be made through the website.
