Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

Welcome to the latest uploads to our website

The Historical item gives a good report on Ireland’s win over Scotland in 1958. The paper’s version indicates that Ireland won by 7 matches to 2. However, the donor of the report has altered the result to 6-3. I would be fairly certain that the altered version is the correct one.

The Gallery item displays a photograph of Frank Devlin and Leow Kim Fatt before the Exhibition on 23rd August 1936. This was part of the tour made by Frank Devlin in 1936. Almost all photographs show Devlin playing in long trousers. It may be at this time that the fashion was changing to the wearing of shorts. We are grateful to Sue Devlin Peard for donating this image.

We are grateful to all those who have donated memorabilia including photographs, programmes and press reports etc. To increase the knowledge of Irish Badminton heritage we would welcome material relating to County and Club matters. Work in preparing items for display is now almost complete so we are looking forward to an opening in the very near future
