Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

Welcome to the first issue for 2017

The Historical Item will be of particular interest to players from Limerick. It displays the final position in all the Limerick and District League Sections. From records held by the Museum it is clear that Badminton in Limerick was very active around this period.

The Gallery Item displays a group of Players competing in the Co. Louth Open of 1957. Mary O’Sullivan (now Bryan) features with members of the FitzGibbon family. Mary was married to Jim and was a noted tennis player. Jim played for Ireland on many occasion and his brother Pat was for many years a very active member of Dundalk Badminton Club.

Good progress is being made towards the realisation of a Museum display space. We are reluctant to commit to a specific date at this stage but it should open in about four to six weeks. We are very keen to receive further items of interest which will assist us in preserving the heritage of Irish Badminton. It is the heritage preservation of Irish Badminton is the main aim of the Museum.
