Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

Welcome to the 100th. upload to our website.

The outstanding event in Irish Badminton 40 years ago, (1976) was the holding of the European Championships in Dublin. This was a period when it was difficult to hold International events because of the political situation. Nevertheless, Frank Peard took on the daunting role of Tournament Director and, with detailed planning, made an outstanding success of the event. Any Badminton fan will recall the excitement of seeing so many world class players competing for team and individual honours. It is amazing how many Badminton people were prepared to volunteer to assist in the event which took place over five days and nights. In acknowledging the support of so many people I have displayed a listing of volunteers in the Gallery section and the Historical which is a slight change from our usual procedure.

Progress continues to made towards having an opening of the Museum in January next.

We are keen to receive on loan or donation basis more material, particularly from Counties and Clubs are there is a rich heritage of Badminton activities in these areas. I will be delighted to deal with queries through the website.
