The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.
Welcome to the new upload of items to the website.
The Historical Item displays a brief History of Limerick County Association from its inception circa 1932 up to 1952. This article appeared in a Programme for an Exhibition by Malayan and Irish International Players. It gives a good indication of the efforts of a number of enthusiasts to spread the game in the Limerick. This article epitomises the type of information the Museum is seeking to preserve. The programme was kindly donated to the Museum by Frank Peard.
The Gallery Item displays an image of Barry Coffey accepting the Midland Branch Cup from Michael Glover of Dublin and District Leagues and Cups Committee in 1985. Anybody involved in the game will know the great atmosphere that prevails in the venue on finals night. This presentation was made in Terenure Centre.
It is pleasing to report that much work is now being done to progress towards the opening of the Museum to the public. The question of the most suitable system of display is now receiving attention. When a new project is being undertaken it is not always possible to indicate a finish date. It is hoped that the matter should be completed in the next couple of months.
