Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

Welcome to the new issue.

The historical Item displays a Press Report from 1945. This is part of a series of articles covering the immediate post-war period on Badminton in Ireland. This particular report concentrates on Munster and Connacht. It seems that Limerick Association was well organised and making progress despite the difficulties of the time. The Museum holds reports on the Badminton Carnival referred to in the report.

The Gallery Item displays the Midland (Leinster) Branch team that played the Senior Interprovincial match against Northern (Ulster) Branch. This was a very strong team with Jack Lee the only player who did not gain selection to the Irish team. Midland Branch won the match 8-3

The focus of the Trustees is now on the opening of the Museum to the public. There are many aspects to be decided and advice to be obtained. At the moment it is not possible to give a definite date but it is hoped to be operative within the next couple of months. In the meantime, we will be keen to accept loans or donations of material particularly from Counties and Clubs. If any of our readers have display experience, we would welcome their assistance.
