Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

Welcome to the latest upload of material to Badminton Museum of Ireland Website.

In our Gallery Section we are displaying an image of E.A. Newenham. He was a stalwart of Badminton in Munster and at one time was President of Badminton Union of Ireland. From other material held by the Museum it is clear that he played a significant part in the development of the game. It is easy to feel that a Museum might only involve the playing stars of the game but we feel that those who have involved themselves in the game should receive proper recognition where the history of the game is involved.

The Historical Item stays with Munster as it displays an interesting article on the visit of the famous Jack Morton Circus to Nenagh Co. Tipperary in 1958. The writer has an amusing way in depicting the thumbnail sketches of the players. It is understood that the exhibition was played before a packed hall. It seems appropriate that it should have been played in the Lecture Hall as anybody who attended would have received a good lesson in how the game should be played.

As I say each time the Trustees are keen to receive Badminton memorabilia so that the full heritage of Badminton in Ireland can be preserved and displayed. Comments please through the website.
