Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

In this issue the Gallery Item displays an image of the very successful Malone team of 1969. In all the club won six competitions and all players who competed are shown in the image. There are many International players included and this was the most successful season for the Club

Kerry is renowned for many things particularly in the sporting scene. In the historic section we display a nice article suggesting a connection between Kerry and the invention of the game of Badminton. I think I note a tongue very much in Junior Griffin’s cheek. This was taken from a wonderful production celebrating 75 years of Kerry Badminton Association 1936 – 2011.

I was delighted to be contacted recently by Wendy Hunter who is a niece of Jack Morton of Badminton Circus fame. She kindly donated a number of very interesting items to the Museum.

Recent discussions with Leinster Branch gives a degree of confidence that the Museum project is will shortly be a reality. Much work still needs to be done and like everything else these days shortage of funds will be a factor. Nevertheless we are more optimistic than ewe have been for some time
