Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

As the Irish International Championships are being staged for the 100th. time this month the issue concentrates on this historic event.

The Gallery item displays photographs of every Irish winner of Singles titles with the exception of the 1927 Ladies winner, Miss D.Pilkington. The museum would be delighted to obtain a photograph of this player who played for Ireland on 5 occasions.

The Historical section displays a report on the event played in 1950. The venue will be of interest to dancing enthusiasts of the 60s and 70s. Woodbrook was made available for major events by the owner of the facility. Irish players had a successful event winning the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Ladies Doubles. Also included in this page is a report on the Co.Louth Championships. There is an error in that the Ladies Doubles winners were omitted and it would be nice to receive confirmation of who the winners were.

As can be seen from this issue there are many interesting and historic items are held by the Museum. We are very keen to continue collating such data but the lack of official support is discouraging.
