The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.
The Historical Item displays a wide ranging press report. Thirty five years ago Mollie Nichol, President of Badminton Union of Ireland was stressing the need for a full time paid administrator to take responsibility many of the facets carried out by voluntary people. Such a situation is now in place but it took a long time to arrive. Details of the All-Ireland Intercounties are given and there was quite good support for the event. It is good to see the spread of players in the Irish Under 18 Squad. Badminton in Connacht also gets good mention.
The Gallery item displays a nice photograph of four International Players probably taken prior to an important match. It would seem that Frank Peard is the only one who is focusing on the task ahead.
The Museum had an interesting contact from Germany recently. The English Badminton Museum had received an enquiry in relation to Frank Devlin and they referred the matter to the Irish Body. There is a good relationship between the English and Irish Museums.
