Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

The historical item in this issue displays a result sheet of the 1935 Provincial Cup Final between St. Mary’s Mullingar and Carlow which was played in Elm Park Dublin. This was a very popular competition. Both teams had some noted players particularly J.Shaw of Mullingar and the Carty sisters of Carlow.

The Gallery Item shows a 1971 photograph of the Irish Team that played Wales. This team seems to have a balance of experience in the names of Bryan, Kelly, Wilkinson and Blair with the younger group of Moore, Morrow and Bell. Team Captain George Henderson played many times for Ireland.

While the Trustees continue to be disappointed at the lack of official support we are keen that memorabilia is not lost and would like to hear from all those who would wish to support the project. Contact can be made through the website.
