Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

The Historical Item in this issue gives a very succinct resume of the development of Irish Badminton since its inception. The positive approach to problems faced during the war years is noteworthy. What price must petrol go to before players are on their bikes again!!. It is of interest that two Centres which ran local events, Carlow and Dundalk, have always been strong areas of support for the game.

The Gallery item displays those who made the presentations to the winners at the 1976 European Championships in Dublin. It is a very good indication of the heritage of Irish Badminton that five Irish winners of All-England Championships were on hand to make these presentations.

I am encouraged by the amount of recent contact that I have had in relation to the Museum and the fact that interested people are ensuring that memorabilia is being retained for loan or donation to the Museum. Any comments or suggestions are welcome and can be made through the website.
