Welcome to BADMINTON MUSEUM OF IRELAND.

The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.

The Gallery item in this issue is displayed by kind permission of ex-International player Maurice Adamson. This is an under 21 Irish team – date not certain. Cyril Adamson, team manager was a stalwart of Ulster Branch for many years.

There has been some recent comment regarding a lack of International matches and in this context the historical section is of interest in reporting on two International matches. Both matches were played outside the main Halls in Dublin and Belfast and it is noted that both matches were played before big audiences. Such matches help in promoting the game and it is a pity that such events are quite irregular. The younger generation will not know of the McCallum Hall which had been the main Centre for Ulster Branch events. For various reasons it was lost to Badminton.

We are sorry to note the passing of Scott Huey. Scott played 9 times for Ireland between 1949 and 1957. He was a fine all round sportsman representing Ireland in cricket on 38 occasions.

The Museums Trustees are committed to preserving the great heritage of Irish Badminton and welcome the support from all parts of the game to ensure valuable memorabilia is not lost. Please make contact through the website.
