The purpose of the Badminton Museum of Ireland is to preserve the great heritage of Irish Badminton and to make the general badminton public aware of it.
In this issue, the Gallery item displays an image of a successful Dunlavin Co.Wicklow Community Games team winning the Leinster final in 1982. This was a very strong team with most of the players competing in Leinster and Irish juvenile events. It is good to see Caroline O'Sullivan back competing after a short absence. This group of players had the fantastic experience of being coached by Frank Devlin, one of Ireland's best ever players. The image is displayed by kind permission of the Peard Collection.
The historical item is a minute of the Terenure Hall Management Committee. These were simpler times before the bar was installed in the Centre when the Committee's duties became more onerous. The income from the Jack Morton Circus appears very small but would have been quite significant at that time.
I was delighted to receive in the post interesting photographs, programmes and press cuttings from ex-Irish international Bobby Harris who has been resident in Australia for many years. I would be delighted to receive any such memorabilia and I can be contacted through the website.
